Your content
- You retain ownership of all content you create
- We cannot read your encrypted documents
- You are responsible for the content you store
- Do not store illegal content
What you choose to store in Tidy Affairs is entirely your decision. We do not recommend, encourage or endorse any particular use of the service or any specific type of information to store. You should only store information that you are comfortable storing and sharing with your nominated key holders. You are solely responsible for determining what content is appropriate for your circumstances.
We may be required to cooperate with law enforcement or regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable law. This may include disclosing account metadata or other non-encrypted data in response to a valid court order or legal process. Due to the end-to-end encryption used by the service, we are unable to disclose the contents of your encrypted documents.
Backup and redundancy
Tidy Affairs is designed as a secure sharing and delivery mechanism for important information — not as a primary storage or backup solution. We strongly recommend that you maintain your own copies of any information you store in Tidy Affairs. Many users prepare their documents separately (for example, in a word processor) and copy the content into Tidy Affairs when updating it. This approach gives you the convenience of secure sharing via Tidy Affairs while ensuring you retain independent copies of your information. Tidy Affairs should not be the only place you keep important information.
Intellectual property
The Tidy Affairs name, logo, design and software are the property of This Company (Digital) Limited. You may not copy, modify or distribute our software or design.
Limitation of liability
- Tidy Affairs is provided “as is”
- We do not guarantee uninterrupted access
- We are not liable for data loss caused by factors beyond our control
- Our total liability is limited to the fees you have paid
- We are not responsible for the actions of your key holders
- We are not liable for any loss arising from your failure to maintain independent copies of your information
Termination
- You can delete your account at any time
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
- Upon termination, all data is permanently deleted
Account activity and retention
Your Individual or Free account remains active for as long as you continue to use it. Logging in and document collection actions are both considered account activity and prevent your account from being deleted.
If your account becomes inactive for an extended period, it may be permanently deleted along with all associated data. A warning email is sent to you and your accepted key holders 30 days before any scheduled deletion. Full retention periods by account type are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Business accounts are retained for as long as the subscription remains active.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the service, legal requirements, or how we operate. When we make changes, we will update the “last updated” date at the bottom of this page.
For changes that materially affect your rights or how the service works, we will notify you by email at least 30 days before they take effect. The email will summarise what has changed.
If you do not agree with the updated terms, you may close your account before the changes take effect by contacting us or using the account deletion option in your account settings. Upon closure, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. If you continue to use the service after the updated terms take effect, you are agreeing to the updated terms.
